notes from week 12
It's important to develop your own style, incorporating techniques and combining them with your own creative side. Even when you are employed to do a job for someone else, there are ways that you can include things you like into the work, if you end up becoming someone who works solely to meet a criteria without having any fun and including your own interest then work will be a drag and become something which you don't enjoy.

got kicked out of the mac lab so this is continued from the last one... well we were shown alot of shots which brad had improved on as an example, the new shots were more dynamic they showed more depth using 3 planes and were used to grab your attention and draw you in to the point of focus quickly. Mark made a point that for certain shots it would only be shown for a few seconds at a time so it was critical for the message to be conveyed as simply and quickly as possible.
Week 2 and 3 started looking at script breakdown and colour coding the scripts. Using Brad Birds work on the simpsons as an example, we were shown the use of cinema techniques which brad introduced to the show. The preparation that goes into each shot in storyboarding using more dynamic angles and the use of planes and golden rule

1st Blog

Dear Diary,
The 2nd week is now over and Pre-Production is on it's way to becoming assignment riddled and full of super new exciting things for us to learn and see.. Week 1 started slow but there is no rest for hungry hippo on his quest for animation glory so my journey must continue. The 1st homework task was to research, thumbnail and design the Inns main hall from the Grimm's fairytale "The Three Army Surgeons". This task was a lot more fun than I first thought it would be, the researching was hard because there is no pictures of 18th century Inn hallways to be found anywhere, but after watching Korgoth and his beer guzzling which occured inside a ye olde looking drunkard hide-out I was inspired to draw a dark sort of setting with little arch windows, hard wood beams, old wooden floors and stone pillars and walls. After roughing up some hallways mainly using a perspective i found something which i liked and decided it was time to turn it onnnn and get it dooonne!! After my rampage of shading and rubbing the homework was done. Also the videos about roughing up those dinosaur poses were really good, I could see how much time you should spend on roughs and when you have finished your main drawing how to shade it well. Also Mark's constructive feedback was really helpful and I totally agreed on every helpful point he had to offer on the construction and composition of the layout; some of the things i could do to improve this picture would be to add more detail in the floor and walls, this could be done by adding cracks on the stones, putting a grain in the floor boards and reducing the size of the stairs. Personally I think it might need a table or something with someone sitting and drinking to spice things up a bit. goodbye blogger see ya next time!..
